Most likely they will miss it on an ultrasound. We had a daughter with PRS and were surprised. So when we were pregnant with my son, we had a High Resolution ultra sound done and they STILL missed it. They said everthing was fine. Well, my son was born with PRS too. They cannot see the palate on an ultrasound so unless the chin is extremely receeded, they will miss it. If you really want to know, get an in utero MRI done which will show the palate. Otherwise, just pick a hospital with a NICU just in case you need it and hop for the best. Whatever will be will be.

: I had a child with PR last year 6/29/07. He
: had very minimal problems and did fine with
: tongue lip adhesion and was home when he was
: 14 days old. His tongue lip adhesion was let
: down and his cleft was repaired in April of
: this year. He is doing great. I just found
: out I was pregnant again and was wondering
: how many found out before their child was
: born and who was "surprised" at
: birth. Should I find another ob or is this
: easily missed when there is only a slight
: pushed back chin and only part of the soft
: pallate was cleft. There have been a lot of
: genetic tests and all have come back normal.
: Any opinions
