Hey jessy...I am sorry to hear that the bottle feeding still isn't going to good...just hang in there..I know it can be frustrating! How old is your baby?? Newborns up to about two months or so thrive on their reflexes for surrival. If he is young enough he should still have a good root/suck reflex..maybe putting him in a cradling position and letting him "root" for the paci would help him take it better. Is he getting anything for pain?...maybe his tongue hurts and a little tylenol would help...I gave Kate tylenol on and off for a couple of weeks post op. One more things...are you using the mini feeder or the regular sized feeder? Kate is almost four months and still will only take the mini feeder. Her small jaw makes for a small mouth, so the mini feeder works better....also the larger feeder is longer and spits the milk right into their cleft (kate hates this)...makes it hard for them to get a breathing/eating pattern down. try to angle the nipple towards the side of the mouth....anyways...sorry for the long post...maybe a little tmi...good luck!

: Our newborn son who has PRS (isolated) had a
: lip tongue adhesion done about 3 weeks ago.
: He is very adversive to having anything in
: his mouth. We were discharged from the NICU
: yesterday with a NG tube. I was wondering
: if anyone had any techniques on how to start
: bottle feeding him. Our feeding specialist
: recommended that we slowly introduce things
: in his mouth. I am able to place the tip of
: my finger in his mouth while he is
: sleeping... anything more and he'll wake up
: screaming (but is easily consoled). It is
: really frustrating!!! Any advice from
: people who have been here would be extremely
: appreciated. Thank you!!
