Hey there,
I am a new poster to this board. My son has PRS, was diagnosed as "positional" at birth, but has had some increasingly intense choking fits as of late (he's 4 weeks old). We went in to the hospital today and his pediatrician fit him with a nasal trumpet. He was unsure, however, how often we should be cleaning it out, and only said to clean it every few days or if it seemed clogged. We are scheduled for the mandibular distraction surgery in a week and a half, but we are a little freaked out about maintaining the trumpet and having to reinsert it after cleaning. Does anyone have any experience with using the trumpet for an extended period of time? How often did you have to clean it. Did your child sound stuffed up as a result?
Thanks, and my wife and I have appreciated the posts on this board.
