Hi, my daughter had cleft palate surgery at 1 yr. old. Her videofluroscopy test, at 2 1/2 yrs old, shows she needs pharyngeal flap surgery. Our doctor plans to perform it in the next couple of months. She will be 3 yrs. old in September. I am afraid the surgery is being scheduled too soon. Everything I read shows children getting this surgery at 5 - 8 years of age. Is it bad to do the surgery so early? Can anyone tell me about their experience with this or any other similar velopharyngeal surgery?
