Solid Foods

I have read many postings on this however I am still having trouble with the simple little fruits. Sierra is almost 7 months old and I can do no more than add cereal to a bottle. I tried to mix cereal with the fruit to thicken it up (that was off a posting- it helped) but after a few bites it comes out of her nose. I am reluctant to continue however I know it is for her own good. Any more suggestions or just stick with it and it gets better?
