I concur with Linda (although we have not been cleared to take that step yet). But I need to warn you that, per our GI doctor, nutritionists are notorious for overestimating caloric content. Obviously, Linda's was very good, and I wish we had one that good. Ours has tried to over feed my son, and I think she is largely the cause of why he went from eating fine to not wanting to anymore. I would suggest that you confirm any calorie requirement with your GI doc or your pediatrician, and see if your nutritionist will tell you HOW she is calculating the requirement so that you can troubleshoot any discrepancies. For example, our nutritionist refuses to base my son's calorie requirement on his weight. Instead, she uses the "weight that an average baby in the 50th percentile would have at his age." Oops -- my son is in the 5th percentile and has been since he was born. He was never supposed to be in the 50th percentile, as neither his dad nor I ever were as children. She is attempting to feed him calories to force him to grow to a weight he is not biologically SUPPOSED to be, and for the life of me I can't figure out why.
Anyway, I think Linda's plan is a good one. It may not work -- if there is still a mechanical issue, for example -- but one thing is for sure and that is that it CAN'T work if your nutritionist insists on overfeeding your child.
Best of luck.
