Hi Melissa, I know it's scary to know the trach is out, but it sounds like he's just going about his business and not crapping out, and that's good news. I agree about the twill ties. They are not stretchy at all, and there's no way he'd be able to pull on the trach enough to get them out. With that said, Kate was doing just that and we figured out it wasn't that the ties weren't tight enough, it was that the trach tube inside her, wasn't long enough. She was in a 3.5 Neo Bivona for close to a year when she started being able to decann herself. Her ENT upsized her to a 3.5 Ped Bivona, so the inside tube is longer, but not wider.
Just a thought.
