: My grandson is now 3 1/2 years old and has
: PRS. He has had the cleft palatte repair,
: etc. but is still nonverbal except for
: imitating a couple of animal sounds. I have
: read through most of the message board, and
: it seems that everyone has feeding issues (
: he is also 100 % g-tube fed) but no one
: mentions speech delay. Is this not common
: with PRS? At what age do most PRS kids start
: talking? (even though I know each kid is
: different). We have always had more of an
: issue with him being nonverbal that being
: unable to eat. Do most PRS kids start
: speaking at a fairly early age?
:
My daughter was trached until she was 19 months of age but began speaking as soon as the trach was removed. She had speech therapy to help her catch up but she speaks beautifully now and is fine. Her cleft repair was at 13 months of age and her g-tube came out at 3 years 9 months.
