Today we went back to childrens to have the swallow study done (she's 13 months) and see why she chokes when she drinks thin fluid. She is not aspirating, but its going up her nose. It doesn't go up and go all the way out, it just goes up a little.
They said that its because of her palate still being weak. (repaired Dec. 07) They also said it should strengthn as she gets older. But if not, she could have a nasal sound to her voice.
Has anyone else been in this situation? Does it stregthen? The doc said there is no way of therapy that can strengthen that muscle. Just a lil' nervous of always having to thicken her bottle and hope she doesn't have a nasal sound.
