Jennifer,
Thanks. The eating/low tone association makes sense to me as well, so I am doubtful that that is the issue here. He is literally almost 18 pounds and is not even 6 months old yet - wearing all 6-9 month clothes since 5 months old and some 12-month shirts now. He eats 4 8oz bottles a day as well as two solid food meals a day. I think it is my "fault" for not finding a way for him to have enough time to be on his belly/back and just learn how to do things for himself. Every time I would put him on the floor, his older brothers were literally on top of him, bringing him every toy and just making him giggle - he has been totally entertained since day one with little need to do anything for himself! I guess with me also trying to meet the MANY needs of my twins (Mommy, can I have...mommy I need to go potty...Mommy he hit me, etc.) my baby just hasn't gotten as much one on one attention from me as I would like.
I think he will catch up, especially now that we blocked off part of the living room with a play yard so he can safely explore his surroundings.

: My youngest son was botn with PRS and is so
: very different from my oldest. My oldest
: son (no PRS) hated belly time and didn't
: really like to be on his belly until he
: started crawling, which was around 8 months.
: He would scream anytime we put him on his
: belly, he'd roll onto his back and then
: would be fine. Your son may not have any
: issues with tone, he may just perfer to be
: on his back. My oldest still perfers to be
: on his back, he even sleeps on it. However,
: my youngest we had to have him sleep on his
: belly because he had difficulty breathing on
: his back. I noticed that he loves his belly
: and has developed a lot quicker then my
: olderst. I'm not sure if it's because he's
: so small or because he's a belly baby but at
: 11 months old he's walking.
: My doctor said that low tone is associated
: with childhood problems because the children
: have problems eating enough to develope
: muscle tone, so if your son is a big healthy
: guy he may just hate belly time.
