Is she in pain, or just miserable without her thumb? Poor thing.
My daughter had her palate repaired this past December. She was a big time pacifier sucker before and she had a hard time getting used to going to sleep without it after the repair. She was in a bit of pain, and we gave her Tylenol probably for 5 days at night, so she'd be able to get to sleep. She didn't need the arm restraints...she had no interest in putting her hands or anything else in her mouth, so we didn't use them.
We ended up replacing the pacifier with a stuffed Elmo, and she cuddles with that now.
Hang in there. It gets better!
