My daughter gave birth to a baby girl on the 1st November 2007. When the baby was was born she cried and turned blue. here situation was critically as they were not prepare since the developement during her pregnacy was very normal.
She was rushed to a children hospital, and had a cardiac arrest and was ressusitated. She had exploritory surgery that same night and a tracheotomy..The diagnosis was PRS. But during all the exams she did she had some kind of brain damage on the white matter. But the doctors were not able to tell as how it would affect her in the future. The grey matter was not affected.Zoe caught broncolitis before Christmas and was in and out of the hospital all through the holidays.
Looking after a trach baby is not easy. I am so afraid that the traach might come out and my daughter alone with her will not be able to cope. Please share your experience with me not only the wonderful thing but also overwhelming situation..realistic.I would like to know about looking after a trach if that gets easier as the bay gets older..e.g when they start rolling over..the risk. Also if the developement of the baby is delayed as Zoe will be three months on the 1st of February and she has not started to lift her head and only now she has started to smile occasionaly. Please respond. Thankyou. Andree
