Posted by Kathleen As I was walking into the theatre for the afternoon performance, I caought a glimpse of a photo of Brian Riggs "Pete" on the wall. For a quick moment I was wondering what George had done with his hair. Brian looks a great deal like George in the photo. In person he is slighter. Loraine "Keely" was dark haired and does not look anything like Sally. There were 130 seats in the theatre. The evening performance was sold out. The afternoon performance was about 80% filled. The audiences at both performances were mostly elderly. However, they came to be entertained and were. Little passed them by. They were really into the performance. They even caught the humor behind the record album titles. Keely might still interrupt Pete but Pete kept stepping between Keely and the audience. In this production Del is really a character not just the person playing the piano. The piano is off stage as is the rest of the orchestra. I missed the piano. Del is a bit over the top but he is funny. When Keely tosses the coin onto the piano, it is returned to her. You can hear the coin click as it falls to the floor. I also miss Uncle Miltie at his table. The fan was used for "Battle Hymn of the Republic." It was interesting to see the audience's reaction to the stage hand crawling on the floor to bring in the fan. It received a good laugh. During the recording studio scene, the song "Still" was used instead of "But Beautiful." I was a little confused. Some of the words to "Cross Country Tour" were changed. Saratoga was mentioned and O K L A H O M A spells Texas not Dallas. In the second act "Lover Come Back to Me" was added. It threw me off as I was not expecting that song. Tony and Cleo went over very well. I did miss the big foot on stage though. I am sorry to be so late with this but if anyone could get to Buffalo this weekend, please do go. The play is well worth the trip. Loraine's "Black Coffee" was great. The rapport between the character was good. There were some scenes where they could not seem to keep their hands off each other. One could see the attraction that still existed between the two former spouses. After "It's Us Again - Reprise" Del came on stage and told the audience that there would be another song. I liked this as too often in New York the audience would think the reprise was the last song and get up to leave. This way eveyone stayed in their seats to hear "That's All." With good vocalists and actors this can play anywhere. I can hardly wait until I see it again. If it were possible I would return this weekend.

I went to Buffalo last weekend to see Pete 'n' Keely. I am delighted that I did. It was well worth the trip. I was speaking to the theater manager. He mentioned the people from Rochester and Syracuse had attended other performances as they might possibly be put on their own performances.
