Open letter to all of my contacts, please forward to all of your contacts.... I am sure by now you have heard about the 73 year old man in New Brunswick who was aquitted for killing 5 of his Pomeranian's with a hammer. It is important that you understand, this man did what he thought was best for his animals and the courts agreed. We need to focus on the laws and the courts not the individual or the action. Not that I think what this man did was right, it was beyond disgusting and I do not understand that train of thought.I, as well as many others have tried for years to get help in changing the cruelty to animal act, unfortunately as soon as we achieved a few steps forward a cabinet shuffle or election took place and we would be back to the beginning.The best course of action now is to e-mail, write and remind your local MLA often, that you demand changes and will vote for candidate that gets the job done. The problem with the Minto, NB case is no laws were broken. In Canada in 2009, domestic pets are property to be destroyed and disposed of by any means as long as the animal dies in a reasonably short time!!!I can not believe this myself and have received a lot of support and even applause in a few locations today for speaking out. I will tell every person who thinks it is time to draw a line between pets and property contact your MLA, make changing this classification their issue because until they take the message to Ottawa we will get nowhere.You can ask you friends, contacts and any one that will listen to make the legal change their MLA's problem until Canada gets an Oprah they are all we have.I will CC this to my MLA just to let him know I thought kindly of him today.I look forward to seeing the results from a group effort not just locally but coast to coast!!!Thank you for your support.
