A set combining all three Lamy 2000 products, the fountain pen, ballpoint pen and mechanical pencil.
The Lamy 2000 was designed by Gerd Muller for Lamy and launched in 1966. Muller was a follower of Bauhaus design and the Lamy 2000 was a design which married function and engineering. Muller used a new polycarbonate, Makrolon, for it’s toughness and stability but gave it a soft brushed finish, look and feel. (Lamy now say on their website that the 2000 pens are made "with fibreglass" which would appear to be the newer form of Makrolon which is reinforced with fibreglass for added strength.)
The fountain pen was bought new and I have only inked it once so it is in “as new” condition. It has a fine nib, is a piston filler and an exceptionally smooth writer, as all Lamy 2000 pens are.
The ballpoint pen has never been used, is in mint condition, as is the pencil.
All three come in their box with the Lamy documentation.
Justifiably, Lamy describe the 2000 as a “modern classic”.
