A beautiful sterling silver Waterman CF fountain pen in the Fougère (fern) pattern, made in France in the 1970s. Both the cap and barrel bands have the French crab sterling silver hallmark and the imprint “ARGENT MASSIF”. The pen has an 18k gold fine nib and is complete with the CF converter.
It is in excellent condition with beautifully crisp engraving, a lovely example of this modern classic pen.
The C/F was probably Waterman’s most successful fountain pen in the postwar era. Designed by Harley J Earl associates who headed design at General Motors in the post-war era of the Corvette and rocket-inspired tailfins, the pen was launched in 1957 and introduced the modern cartridge/converter filler as well as a striking new look. Made for about 30 years in a range which eventually embraced plastic student pens, silver and gold plated pens and solid silver and gold pens in beautiful patterns.
