A grey Parker VS (“Vacumatic Successor”) Mark II pen with Lustraloy cap and a 14k fine nib with Lucite feed.
The VS was introduced by Parker in 1946, as the Vacumatic was ending production, to provide an open nib option to the Parker 51. It was a button filler not a Vacumatic filler, with an aluminium button under the blind cap. The Mark I and II VS was only in production for two years, the Mark II for just one year, so quite collectable.
This pen has the date code for 1Q’47 and has two improvements on the Mark II: a redesign of the aluminium filler button to cure a corrosion problem with the Mark I and a black Lucite feed replaced the clear feed which was discoloring with ink. The nib is a 14K fine point.
The pen is 14.3cm closed and 15.3cm with the cap posted.
CONDITION: very good; the Lustraloy cap is excellent, the barrel imprint is crisp, grey plastic has a scratch near the imprint and is otherwise good. The filler works well and the pen is a nice smooth writer.
