I am the original owner of this pen, purchased new. Itís a big bold pen that will not fit in a shirt pocket. But if you want an impressive large pen that makes a statement this is it. The pen is spectacular to see and hold in person. Stunning presentation of the US flag.
Hand painted enamel the pen is solid sterling silver, measures just under 5 3/4 inches and weighs in at a hefty 116grams (4.1oz) on my scale.
Fitted with an 18k medium nib. Piston filling system. Limited edition of 779 pens in sterling silver.
I have used the pen a couple of times but it presents as new. Piston knob operates smoothly and precisely.
From Omas promotional material:
This stunning Omas Limited Edition Solid Sterling fountain pen is dedicated to John Paul Jones, founder of the United States Navy. The fountain pen has the shape of a telescope and the clip is shaped like the bow of a sailing vessel. There are two scenes on the pen. They are both done in enamel and solid sterling, both recall two significant moments in the life of Commander Jones. On the cap there is a stunning enamel US flag and his figure in silver relief along with two assistants next to him. The picture on the pen barrel depicts two ships, also in relief clashing at Scarborough. The body of the pen has shades of blue and white enamel depicting the sea and the sky that is tinged with an intense yellow. This pen is hand painted enamel and hand carved silver relief figures. The pen has an 18K gold nib made especially for this pen. There are only 779 of these pens worldwide.
List price of the pen in 2012 was $2750US.
Offered here for $1295US plus actual shipping. (heavy boxset)
