This Conway Stewart Limited Edition was specially commissioned to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the Writing Equipment Society. A Limited Edition of only 200 pieces, each pen was hand crafted from solid ebonite rods. The pen is engraved with fine wave-like patterns reminiscent of ebonite pens from the 1920s and accentuated with solid 18ct gold rings. The pen also features the first lever fill mechanism used by Conway Stewart since its relaunch in 1998. Each pen is engraved 'The Writing Equipment Society 20th Anniversary - 2000' and bears its own individual serial number. This one is 030/200. It is in mint, unused condition and comes in a large green leather, satin lined box, together with documentation, a bottle of Conway Stewart ink and a small hard-back book of Winston Churchill quotations.
The pen has an 18ct gold nib, size 6, a medium point which I had customized by Richard Binder to a more expressive cursive italic.
The Churchill is a large pen at 14.5cm (5 5/8 inches) closed and 18.3cm (7 1/8 inches) when the cap is posted, about the same size as a Montblanc 149. Being ebonite, the pen is nonetheless very comfortable to use, weighing 32g and being very well balanced.
This is a very special model of the Churchill, a classic design in every way with the solid gold rings and the customized nib makes it an especially enjoyable writer.
Condition: excellent; the pen was mint when I bought it and I have inked it just three times so it is in “as new” condition. It comes complete with all the boxes and documentation.
