A long sterling silver plunger filler Onoto with hallmarks for De La Rue London 1928. The pen has alternating plain and barleycorn engraving and is shown in Stephen Hull’s “Onoto The Pen” reference work on page 121.
The London hallmarks are crisp and clear. There is a name engraved neatly in cursive script on the indicia, “Ernie”, the original lucky owner.
The pen is 14cm closed (5 ½ inches) and fully 18cm (7 inches) with the cap posted. But with its length the pen is also light and very comfortable to use.
The Onoto 14ct London nib is a fine point with a little line variation, smooth and pleasant to use.
Not in perfect condition with scattered dings but an attractive pen, restored and ready to write.
Condition: Very good; the sterling silver cap and barrel have scattered dings, more so on the cap more than the barrel, but have crisp engraving and clear London hallmarks on the barrel. The pen has been fully restored and fills and writes well.
