1. The Gift of Listening . . . . . . Try giving this to someone in need. You must really listen. No interrupting, no daydreaming, no planning your responses. Just listen. Your reaction to someone in trouble determines GOD's reaction to you the next time you get in trouble and may need someone to listen!
2. The Gift of Affection . . . . . . . Be generous with your hugs, kisses and gentle squeezes of the hand. Let these tiny actions demonstrate the love inside of you.
3. The Gift of a Note . . . . . It can be as simple as "I Love You" or as creative as a sonnet. Put your notes where they will surprise your loved ones. A co-worker or supervisor/boss that is truly appreciated for the little things. It makes a difference!
4. The Gift of Laughter . . . . . Just cut out a cartoon, save a clever article, remember a corny joke; executed at the right time can turn a frown upside down.
5. The Gift of Compliment . . . . . A simple "you look good in blue or green, etc; I like the way your hair looks today; good supper tonight" can be of the greatest value in giving something that cost you little or nothing. Someone is always observing you who is capable of greatly Blessing you.
6. The Gift of Favor . . . . Help with the dishes, run an errand, take over something at work to give someone a break for a change, go the extra mile. Any little random act of kindness will not be forgotten for every action is a seed sown. Currents of favor begin to flow the moment you solve a problem for someone else.
7. The Gift of Leaving Alone . . . . . There are times in our lives when we want nothing better than to be left alone for moment for whatever the reason. Often we assume that we've done something wrong when in essence it's nothing we've done; all he/she may need is a little time alone to put things in proper perspective, release the days stresses, right a wrong -- whatever, give the gift. What you make happen for others, GOD will make happen for you!
8. The Gift of a Smile . . . . . It takes more muscles to frown than to smile. The smallest of smiles can lift the heaviness of a burden. There is always someone worse off than you. Regardless of the circumstances wear a smile with a cheerful disposition. It's medicine for the soul.
9. The Gift of Forgiveness . . . . . . Forgiveness is setting a prisoner free and discovering that the real prisoner is yourself. Carrying around grudges is like a sack of potatoes that's been sitting for weeks, months -- rotting away. Let it go; it has no worth. Injustice is only as powerful as your memory of it!
10. The Gift of Prayer . . . . Pray for your loved ones, your co-workers, your church family and friends. Pray for your enemies, pray for this country and it's leaders and when possible, let them know you're praying for them. We all need prayer. It is one of the greatest gift that cost us nothing but a little time.
What a great way to start the New Year giving gifts that money cannot buy.
"I have showed you all things, how that so laboring ye ought to
support the week, and to remember the words of the
LORD, JESUS, how he said,
It is more Blessed to Give than receive.
(Acts 20:35)
