Practice! Practice! Practice! I recieved an email from a young man who wants to be the best! The Olympics produce the best every 4 years because these contenders....practice! Practice! and more practice! If you don't have a disciplined program with consistency..... You will always be wishing..... You Will always be a could have been.... You will always say my brother and family plays..... Why is that? It is real simply.... You find folk who never play or play well.... Never complete or finish...... Notice how many have taken lessons and quit.... Started up again and than quit! Start again and than find a reason to stop! Lesson taking is a way of life for some people. They feel the lessons will rub off on them without the practice. Notice how many who have a private teacher and never practice. They take lessons every thursday at 4 pm and they never move to nothing new because they were to busy to practice.... They go to the best for lessons and feel that because they are taking lessons from the best.... They will be the best...... No it don't work that way..... In order to be the best.... You must have a passion and attitude to be the best and don't let nothing get in your way of practice..practice....practice.... I assure you if you practice for 6 months daily for 15 minutes.... You will be somebody's player at somebody's church....if that is your goal... Most beginners fail because of lack of confidence in themselves and the consistency of practicing the right stuff... Well! Need I say more. You get the picture. Be all you can be..... The Word is practice...... That is the bottom line..... And there is no excuse that can replace that... So to all my friends who are looking for a miracle or the wonder person or teacher. The bottom line is develop a disciplined practice program. For those of you who can not find a teacher. Organ....I recommend these tapes. 1. Foot Pedal - Learn how to use your foot, it is the key to organ playing. Most pianist make the transition to organ, but never master their foot. They wonder why they never really sound together. 2. Drawbar- Hammond is about the drawbar. Master your drawbar and you master you sound at the Hammond 3. Chord structure. there are over 11 chord families. You should know them well. 4. Scales - A must for improvisation. 5. Songs - Praise and Worship. A must for any church service. If you don't know the songs, you are no good to the church. They sound better without music. You see my drift.... I have designed a tape for every situation to help you with your music ministry.
