The West chose carefully the day of the opening of the Olympics when Putin was meeting with Bush in Peking and Medvedev was on vacation to command his georgian puppets to provoke Russia just ,so it can find who really is in charge in Russia.
Putin well known for collaborating with the West ever since he was a KGB agent in Germany in the 1980's immediately was ordered by his master to return to Moscow and negotiate cease fire which the russian military does not so far even care for.
When things calm down Putkin will again fire the generals that dared to confront Georgia like what he did in August 2000 when he fired the whole supreme military russian leadership after the submarine thing
