You can think whatever, you want to think and whatever is comfortable for you to think... however it does not make it true... ;-)
Here are some facts... Macedonia of Philip and Alexander was a Hellenian state... (Please, do not confuse the Hellenians or so-called "Ancient Greeks" with the present-day greeks). Anyway, they spoke the same language as Athinians, Sparthans, Troyans, Thebans, etc...., shared the same culture, worshiped the same gods... Present day citizents of the republic of Macedonia speak slavonic language (in some opinions - a diallect of bulgarian, influeced by serbo-croatian, which on other hand is influenced by medieval bulgarian), historically the territory of Macedonia or most of it was a part of the Bulgarian empire... at least before the Osmans took all over. Like it or not, there was no Macedonia, since the times of Alexander the Great. And btw, his capitol before he moved it to Babylon was Philipopolis, which is nowdays city of Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Looks like we have more reasons to pretend to be Alexander's descendents then you... ;-) But we do not pretend... should we? Or we should call ourselves Thracian? Because we live on a territory inhabited by tracians before that?! I do not think so, because when the Slavs came to the peninsula the Tharacians suddenly disappeared from the politicail map?! Why?... well, guess! However, we also can pretend to be romans, because we live on a land that was their for several centuries.... but this is non-sence... So, why are we Bulgarians and live in Bulgaria, and in the same time we are a lot more slavs?! Because, the country was found, established and flourished under Bulgar rule. Because Asparukh Bulgars did lay the foundation of this organisation for everybody who lived inside it... they created the laws, the administration, they gave our forefathers the security to live in their own country.... does not matter if they are Bulgars, Slavs, Thracian, Roman, Goth or later Kuman, Saxon, Pecheneg, Magyar, and etc. ... that is why the name of the motherland is Bulgaria and we are Bulgars or Bulgarians. And if you do not like it... :-)
Now about the Bulgars, being Tataro-mongols ...halloooo, wake up!!! The tataro-mongols came to Europe in 12th century.... Bulgars have been here for about 7 centuories already... although the Bulgar origin is still very disputed it is most probably Pamirian with Irano-Aryan and Turk mixes. However, we most likely are slavic people now as we have been for centuries. And risking to offend you - what are you??!!... may be alliens from another planet or one of the Alexander's generals invented a time machine and moved with his people to 20th century ... then, better please go back to 300BC to re-conquer Persia?!?!?! Macedonians.... blah-blah!!! :-)
