Posted by bulgarian on 2/16/2006, 7:30 pm Not a single word is turkish, nor any of the names of the bulgar boliari or rulers were anything close to turkish. There weere no turks to speak of in Europe or the Caucases in the 7th century AD. When the multi-ethnic Volga Bulgaria fell under the blows of the mongols more turks were settled in its teritory, thus dispersing and melting the little that was left of the old bulg language, culture and tradition. Turks serving the mongols under the name TATARS are the main element of todays Tatarstan and its population. The bulgars were one of the many tribes within the hun empire of Attila and he is mentioned as one of the bulgar rulers in the "Name registry of bulgar rulers" written in greek by appointment of the father of Danubian Bulgaria - Asparook. Never from its creation Bulgaria was specified as a turkic state by the byzabitines with whom we fought countless wars. The language of present day Tatarstan has nothing in common with the language of the proto-bulgars who established the country in 680-681 AD along with the slavic ANTAES or antes who were loyal hunnic allies from the time of Attila. Three of Attila's sons - Ernak,Emnetzur and Ultindzur were settled by the east-romans in the lands of today's Bulgaria along with their tribes. Other tribes loyal to Attila - ostrogoths and alans were also settled in our lands after his death in 453 AD. In 580 AD a group of 10,000 bulgars with their leader - Bulgarios were allowed to reside and settle in the lands of today's Bulgaria. Bulgarios brother Khazarig with his horde of bulgars remained in the Caucases and after his death those bulgars took his name -the Khazars. Moreover...the huns of Attila were never turks.since there were no turks in Europe in the 5th century. The turkish word for burial is different althogeter. The proto-bulgar names for months like ..Alem,Enialem,Vechem,Shehtem,Tutom are the turkish names for their months. Lots of the words from the columns of proto-bulgar palaces are either east-persian,caucasian or sumero-akkadian. Bulgar words like Hloubram,Estrogin,Aso,Pile are simply not turkish and have not any comparables in the turkish lexicon.

From the time of the first bulgarian kingdom we have stone reliefs in the royal capital in Pliska and also from the town of Silistra that bare words from the language of the bolgars.
The first true turkish state was that of the seljuks in the 10 century AD.
But the magyars of Hungary were identified as such by them.
The hunnic word - STRAVA,meaning burial still is widely used in today's Bulgaria - ZARAVA,i.e burial.
There are some celtic words as well...but not turkish words.
