So its rather hard to feel too much pity for her.
She was an active conspirator with Henry VIII to remove men who opposed his claim of supremacy over the church and refused to acknowledge her as Queen and her daughter as heir.
I’m not sure I would agree that Anne’s death was necessarily senseless, she played with fire and ultimately over played her hand. She wanted to be Queen and was prepared to go to any lengths to secure it. She must have been aware of what was expected of her (i.e. producing a son) and was prepared to take that risk.
That’s a risky strategy for a subject to take, I think it likely Henry VIII would never have executed a foreign Princess.
