I should have read the NYC Times article as well before I went ahead to ask my questions. I suppose the damage to Henry VIII's casket was caused by the falling wall pieces onto it from outside when someone accidentally knocked out some wall pieces into the royal vault. So from this I suppose Henry VIII's casket was intact until that point.
Your comments said someone had seen parts of Henry VIII. I wish someone explained what they had seen....such as what Henry wore on the day he was buried. (i.e., colors of clothes, etc)
