Dear Oprah,
I have a litle true story that shows that your statement "he will hit you again" is not always correct. When I was young (I'm retired now) my father hit my mother (a war bride) quite a few times. Back then it was a lot more socially acceptable. One time he even hit her in front of his parents. My grandparents took care of the problem. They simply told him that it was not acceptable to hit her in front of them, then informed my mother that if she found the going too difficult, that she was welcome to bring the kids (My brother and me) and live with them. They would take care of us. That was the end of all domestic violence in our family. Not only did he quit hitting in front of people, he also stopped hitting at home.
I admit that this is the exception to the rule but perhaps parents of a man who tends to express himself violently should think about the ways they can influence their son in a positive way.
Thanks for listening.
