June 28, 2006, I had to have my beloved mixed breed rescued dog, Oscar put down. He was my significant other because he and I lived alone for 12 years and I cannot ever remember crying that hard.
I am writing to you because at the point he had gotten sick, (from the crap from China) the previous December, my diet was working and I lost 30 lbs. I was exercising and doing well. As he went downhill, so did I. I felt as though I had swollowed a pair of sweat sox and had trouble getting up in the morning. After I put him to sleep on the above date, I started eating and could not stop myself. I found I could not be in that much pain and hungry - or in control enough to not eat. Anyway, I, too, am over 200 lbs and in addition cannot exercise because the arthritis in my hips and knees has been exacerbated by the excess weight.
I just thought I would share this part of my life because, you, too, suffered the same loss and perhaps this is a contributing factor to your current condiiton.
I have decided to accept this me and simply try to be healthier.
Debbie
