While in college I read a book in '96 by the guests of Oprah's show that day, Joe Dominguez and Vicki Robin. Joe passed away one year later, and I have always wanted to see what he was like in person.
He lived a life of service on $500 a month, after retiring in 1969 at age 30, living on interest from U.S. Treasury bonds. He didn't promote having a budget, but rather asking questions about your spending in different categories the previous month, based on the idea that "money is the life energy you trade for it". There's more to it than that, but I've always liked his unique approach.
Please let me know if you have a copy of the show and what you'd like
as a trade or bargain.
