I won't take up much of your time but someone needs to do something for the veterans of our country and the va benefits that are supposed to be avaiable to them but are not. My husband is a Viet Nam veteran, he was in combat situations because his MOS was telephone operator ( called in air strikes and other various duties that his chain of command ordered him to do, he is part of the generation that came home from war and was spit at and rejected by most people, including his own father. The point I am trying to get at is in December 2007 my husband had a grand-mal seizure, was taken to the hopital by ambulance, lung collapsed when at the hospital, had a heart attack which was called "broken heart syndrome", and was basically in a coma for about 1 week. We went to the local VA department to see if we could get any type of medical assistance and disibility assistance from our government, after all he was told it was available and now he can't do any of the work he is used to. It has been a year and many, many VA doctors since his medical situation started, VA doctors diagnosed him with high blood pressure due to PTSD, he takes atleast 8 different medications to keep it down so he can get thru the day. Making a long story short we finally got the letter we have been waiting for regarding his benefits. It was the worst day of his life, a slap in the face, he was denied any VA help because they say they can't find proof he was in active duty, well if our government can't find the proof, what are we to do? He has accomodations, medals etc., that has all been sent to VA from the start, I can't fathom the out-come of this, I am appalled, my husband just says " I told you being a veteran doesn't mean anything to our country", he sees it as so many others do, I am asking you "What Now!? How fair is this?
Signed
