Ms. Winfrey,
Your program is viewed by millions of Americans who also follow your concerns for the betterment of people across all political, racial, ethnic, religious, gender, as well as people beyond our borders.
Would it be possible to address the plight of the people of Haiti in your program?
Haiti is a sister American nation, part of our Western Hemisphere, yet it seems that, as a whole, we are more concern about a tsunami that hits a plush resort area in Thailand, rather than the barren landscape of the poorest nation in the Americas.
Have you thought about the possibility of opening a girl's leadership school in Port-au-Prince, Haiti's capital city?
Maybe you can influence people you know in the political, business and entertainment world to come to the rescue of Haiti.
I've been to Haiti several times onj business. I've worked with them, and all they want is a fair an viable chance to better themselves.
They do not want to keep asking for a handout, they want people to take a chance in their lives so they can provide the basic needs that most Americans take for granted.
Wish you well, and thank you for all you do to empower people at home and abroad.
Sincerely,
Al Martinez
