Welcome to the
Unofficial Message Board for Oregon State Gymnastics!
(Also note, that the noted high & low potential ranks go down 1, in positions below where OSU enters the rankings ... & down 2, in positions below OSU & Arkansas enter the rankings. For example UCLA with 14-22 is actually 14-24 or 15-24.)
#2 Oklahoma, #6 Auburn, #7 Alabama, #18 OhSt, #28 UGA each with H-A meets. #33 Maryland & #T41 Kent State both with A-H meets. #T41 Temple with two H meets.
None of these 8 teams will affect OSU's rank on Monday 3/7.
NQS = Sum of the Top 6 scores (three have to be Away meets) subtract the high, and take the average.
So below 1st score is the High which is the largest score that can be replace one of the 5 scores averaged in the NQS average ...
... if this week's meet is an away meet they can drop their lowest score of these 5 "NQS" scores ...
... if this week's meet is a home meet they can only drop their lowest home meet score, unless they have 4+ Away scores in the Top-6, in which case they can drop their lowest of the five scores.
The score they may be dropping (if they score higher this week) is the 2nd score below ("Scr to be drppd")
The maximum NQS that can be obtained (the 3rd score below ... "Max. Poten. NQS") assumes they score a season high.
The Range of "Potential Ranks" are the last two numbers ... 1st is the Highest Rank ... assumes a season high and no team (that could affect their rank) increases their NQS ... Lowest Rank assume they don't score above the "Scr to be drppd" (so no increase in NQS) and all teams below them (that could affect their rank) score high enough to pass them.
These are the teams that can get in the top-36 on Monday 3/7. (Note: I am not showing potential ranks for #42 Kent State that could "theoretically" reach the Top-36 with their two meets ... but not with only 1. Also, again, all the other teams noted above with two meets this week could get to a higher rank than shown.)
OSU & Arkansas are the only two teams in the 2/14 Top-65+ that are not currently ranked ... both have an Away meet on Friday 3/4 at 5pm PST!
Arkansas has an additional Away Meet this week on Sunday ... but is very unlikely to enter the rankings above OSU (UArk's "current average of scores 2-to-5" ("NQS") = 196.420 ... could be replacing their two low scores of 196.100 & 196.475 with a current high of 197.200 ... say they scored two 197.5s, their NQS would be 197.005 ... lower than OSU's with one 197.000).
OSU would be #9 in the current rankings IF OSU had three away meets (Arkansas would be #19) giving an "NQS" of 197.045 ... OSU needs to keep their current away meet scores of 197.150 & 196.575 ... and replace the 197.0 home meet score (among the top-6 scores) with the away meet score from Arizona on 3/4. The maximum NQS OSU could achieve on 3/7 with a season high (197.375+) is 197.120 ... if is VERY unlikely that OSU could get to higher than #8 before Pac-12s.
OSU could reach as high as #8 and (with a 197.0+ on 3/4) as low #12 ...
(OSU's NQS would be lower if OSU doesn't score a 197.0+ score ... for example if OSU scored a 196.000 ==> NQS=196.845 & then could be as low as #15.)
(BOLD "Rank" & "Region" indicate the 4 Regional Hosts. The 7 other Pac-12 teams are in BOLD.)
