Welcome to the
Unofficial Message Board for Oregon State Gymnastics!
Series 3 – “Road to the Olympics” (premiered in the UK on 3/18/2020):
(Phoebe was between 15.5 & 16.5 years old during this season's taping ... she was almost 17 the end of the season's broadcast.)
Episode 1 (3/18/2020): “The First Time in Forever”, Amelie trains with the Senior National team in preparation for the 2019 European Championships in Poland (mid-April 2019, Amelie & Phoebe were still 15) … without Phoebe, who is training in Bristol, while planning to make the trip to Poland (with teammate Alice) to support Amelie … this was her first trip to Poland, & although her dad’s parents were born there, he has never been. The episode mostly follows Amelie for her trip to Europeans & Phoebe & Alice supporting her (Amelie did well, finishing 5th AA, in qualifying, behind teammates A. Kinsella & E. Downie in 3rd & 4th).
(The ~1 min intro to the season, at the start of the show, shows clips of Phoebe training in a Beaver leo … and Tanya & Michael watching … & Phoebe saying “… if they don’t like what they see, I maybe might have to rethink my future plans …” haha!)
(Episode 2 (3/18/2020): “Fearing the Unknown”; Episode 3 (3/25/2020): “Following in Big Footsteps“)
Episode 4 (4/1/2020): “Holding on to a Dream”, Amelie & Phoebe preparing for the British World Championships Team Trials (late August & very early September 2019). Amelie injures her ankle (in June 2019) … & Amelie comes back so both compete at the Team Trials as 2 of 10 in consideration for the 5+1 team. Shown in episode were parts of Phoebe's floor & beam & her Y-1/1 vault. On beam her foot slipped off transitioning out of her dbl wolf turn scrapping her foot on the beam (causing a little bleeding as she continued her beam routine).
(Episode 5 (4/8/2020): “Stepping Into the Unknown”; Episode 6 (4/15/2020): “True Bromance“)
Episode 7 (4/22/2020): “Teamwork Makes the Dream Work”, Amelie & Phoebe switch from online to regular school in preparation to go to American Universities for gymnastics … Tanya & Michael Chaplin come to visit the gym to watch Phoebe (& the other gymnasts). Both Tanya & Michael says a few words about what they are looking for in gymnasts … then show Phoebe on beam and floor as the coaches watch.
(Episode 8 (4/29/2020): “Coming Back Stonger”; Episode 9 (5/6/2020): “When Friends and Family Have Your Back”; Episode 10 (5/13/2020): “Always Believe in Yourself”; Episode 11 (5/20/2020): “Things Don’t Always Go to Plan”)
Episode 12 (5/27/2020): “Quitting’s Not An Option”, Phoebe was "featured" (primarily) in a "secondary" segment... but she 1st appears with Amelie as she was named to the GBR World Team & was heading to the 3 week training camp... after she had sprained her ankle on day-1, & returned early, & decided to drop off the World Team,... their club's artistic gymnasts go on a "high ropes course".
Episode 13 (6/3/2020): “Never Say Never”, as Amelie has a sprained ankle & will only compete bars, Phoebe was named Captain of the Senior Squad for the British (club) Team Championships (Sept. 15th) & juniors Alice & Madi join the team ... (Phoebe choose Ellie Downie as her "Top Twenty" gymnast to be featured on the show.) … Phoebe competed AA at this competition... (didn't show her bar routine, although all 4 scores counted toward the team score, 4 up 3 count)... Phoebe & her team win Gold! Three of the top 5 in the AA were on the GBR World Team (Simm as traveling alternate).
Episode 14 (6/10/2020): “Leaving Your Comfort Zone”, Phoebe & Amelie Morgan are invited to the National Training Camp in Liverpool for a week’s worth of training with the GBR National Team, they showed clips from only Day-1 … then lunch with the gymnasts … after the week at camp … their Coach Liz treated them to a spa day (a first for both of them).
(Episode 15 (6/17/2020): “Making It Happen”; Episode 16 (6/24/2020): “Trying Something New”)
Episode 17 (7/1/2020): “When Nothing Can Stop You”, Amelie Morgan appears in a short segment about her broken wrist & training (in Jan. 2020?) using only 1 arm with British Championships (and/or Olympic trials) 5 weeks away . (Phoebe is seen very briefly training on beam.)
(Episode 18 (7/8/2020): “To Be the Best in the World”)
Episode 19 (7/15/2020): “Anything Could Happen”, Phoebe & Amelie Morgan were invited to the National Gymnastics Center in Lilleshall for the British Gymnastics Tokyo Olympics Training Squad!
My best guess is this training camp took place around late February … since Amelie was coming back from her January(?) (broken) wrist injury (& since gymnastics was closed down in early March).
Coach Liz Kincaid: “… the team will probably be selected from these 8 gymnasts…”
Coach Liz: “Phoebe’s been amazing, she’s been great …” to Phoebe …”Vault, I felt one-and-one-half was great and it was a step up, and beam I feel you’ve got the secret …”
Phoebe: “I didn’t really think I had a shot of going to the Olympics, but it went so well, I think I have an even bigger chance, so hopefully, fingers crossed that I’ll be selected.”
Episode 20 (7/21/2020): This final show of the season was filmed during the Covid lock-down. Phoebe Jakubczyk and Amelie Morgan have been the faces of the show pretty much all three seasons. Part of the show was vvarious gymnasts/coaches getting/reacting to the news of event cancelations… including P & A having a chat session, looking forward to coming back stronger next year. Amelie was chosen as 1 of the “Top Twenty” gymnasts to profile (I’m sure the youngest of those chosen)… chosen by the sisters of one of the boy artistic Gym Stars. A video of various Gym Stars tossing a TP roll between each other, Phoebe tossing after a front handspring in her back yard … Two of the Acro Gym Stars organized a challenge where each discipline (Acro, Tumbling, MAG, WAG, & Trampoline) put together a video of “best” routines… (parts of Phoebe’s floor routine from 2018 Baku YOG qualifier was shown along with Amelie, Alice, & Madi who is now a Tumbler)… then on a Zoom session the 19(?) Gym Stars watched each & “scored” them (1-10)… the total scores showed the winner to be the Tumblers. Some of accomplishments/highlights for the gymnasts mentioned near the end of the show were Amelie & Phoebe earning American Uni scholarships!
Go Beavs!!,
Richard
