is just over three weeks away! I hear it is September 8th ... which I think is probably the earliest start in a long time (I don't know if it has ever been earlier).
The NCAA rule is that the first practice can be the 7th of September (Labor Day!) or the first day of the Fall term classes whichever comes first. For schools on the semester system (nearly all Div. I Gymnastics schools), they could start around mid-August (~17th/18th), but I think most don't start until early September ... or maybe late August.
This is the latest Labor Day can be (first Monday in September), so normally (the last several years) practice has started the week after Labor Day week.
