from someone that also doesn't like 6-6 ...

6 up 6 count - it IS drawing the line, they wanted uncertainty and ups
You can't substitute. 6 up 6 count should mean SIX, not 7. I don't like the rule at all, but changing its meaning for injury or anything else defeats the idea everyone supposedly loves - uncertainty of the outcome. A fall of any kind can mean an upset at the end of the meet. Anything else will get you into a gray area nightmare. Since we're trying to be like other sports to grow, no one else gets a do-over for injury. Having taken that surely unpopular stand, I do like the idea of changing up the difficulty requirements in some fashion to make the level of competition remain high.

(Another reason not to have 6-6 or 5-5 ... you seldom have two injuries in a rotaton.)
I guess I kinda of agree with this ... hard to just go half-way, but the comments about "other sports"!
What happens when an athlete gets injured?
Basketball ... do-over (do they continue to play with 4 players? No)
Baseball ... do-over (... 8? No)
Football ... do-over (... 10? No)
etc. etc. ...
Yes, maybe in similar individual-team sports (swimming, diving, teack & field) in some cases there aren't do-overs.
In Gymnastics you used to not be able to have a do-over if your grips broke on uneven bars ... as Heather Bennetts did in Event Finals in 1995 ... but know you DO get a do-over!
Go Beavs!!,
