I was just thinking that if a team has a fall or two, they might have the rest of the team water down in the prelims of nationals to stop the bleeding... and then these gymnasts might not make it to event finals. or the team might decide to play it really safe, and have everyone water down their routines, which might or might not get them to the final 4...but could result in someone not making event finals. It's a downside to the counting 6 in pre-lims. In the Olympics or worlds, you have the one not counting score in prelims where you are also working to make event finals.
I know that the team is more important, but it'd be sad to see some gymnasts having to play it safe that way...
