Here are the 13 teams that have finished in the top four at NCAA Nationals (listed alphabetically, with last year in top 4 in parentheses) ...
(1982 to 2009)
Alabama ('09)
Arizona State ('99)
Cal State Fullerton ('84)
Florida ('09)
Georgia ('09)
LSU ('88)
Michigan ('01)
Nebraska ('03)
Oregon State ('91)
Penn State ('92)
Stanford ('08)
UCLA ('07)
Utah ('09)
Here is the same list for 1993 to 2009 (kind of the "modern" era, with winning score >195) ... 9 teams (dropped CSUF, LSU, OSU, & PSU) ...
Alabama
Arizona State
Florida
Georgia
Michigan
Nebraska
Stanford
UCLA
Utah
... last 10 years (2000 to 2009) ... (dropped ASU) ... 8 teams ..
Alabama
Florida
Georgia
Michigan
Nebraska
Stanford
UCLA
Utah
(Only 6 of these teams have been top 4 in the last 6 years.)
I'm not sure that the chances of another team being added to this list (of the last 10 years), with the proposed new scoring and finals, are very great!?
Maybe we should send 12 teams to Nationals, and after preliminaries, send Alabama, Georgia, UCLA, and Utah to the finals to see who gets the rotating trophy this year!?
Go Beavs!!,
Richard
