I'm not sure what occasioned this article in March of 2003 (Salbasgeon?) ... I ran across it again earlier this season ... Joy Selig was (arguably?) the most decorated OSU Gymnast (7 1st Team All-American awards, 3 National titles, etc.) ... and this is what she said about Tanya ...
" ... After finishing a remarkable gymnastics career at OSU, Peterson stuck with gymnastics as an assistant coach at the University of Washington. It was there that she worked closely with a former competitor and current OSU coach Tanya Chaplin.
"It was weird, but it was cool working with Tanya," Peterson said. "Her gymnastics resume was a lot better than mine, so I was often awestruck standing next to her. I was always like ‘Wow, I'm standing next to Tanya Chaplin.' " ..."
Possibly my most memorable experience of OSU Gymnastics was getting to meet her at Nationals is 2006 ... and have her come up to me after Event Finals and thank me for my support of OSU Gymnastics!
