The final point count 2191.975!
(ref: the number shown for Georgia's top point total was 2153.400 for Corey Fritzinger)
After the brunch on Saturday I stopped and asked Dan Kendig, head coach of Nebraska, if he knew of another gymnast that has done what Jami has accomplished ... he said in "his 31 years" (he has been head coach of NU since 1993) ... he only knows of one, Shelly Bartlett (NU '94-'97, from Spokane, WA!), that competed AA in every meet of their 4 year career!
While in the Omaha airport this morning I asked Val Kondos the same question ... she mentioned that Ariana has competed every meet of her four years (though not all of those meets were in the all-around!) ... other than that she didn't know.
I'm not sure about Shelly Bartlett's "points", but it looks like she would only have had 54 AA competitions ... to Jami's 56! Likely she wouldn't have as many points ... as she was a 1-time 1st Team AA on bars in 1997 ... so she would have 7 fewer routines than Jami ...
Jami: 56 meets = 224 routines ... 2191.975 points = 9.7856 average
Shelly: 54 meets (+1 event final) = 217 routines ... IF that was 2192 points = 10.1014 average!
It was a little (lot?!) disappointing that Jami wasn't recognized for this at the championship banquet
... BUT we get to honor her at OUR "banquet" this Saturday!
Go Beavs!!,
Richard
