Rotation Four – Beavers back on a bye, Stanford to the Beam and UCLA over at vault. Stanford was hitting nicely on beam and they were led by Carly Janiga who hit a 9.95. Her beam set was just awesome! So incredibly solid! Double back pike finish and she just nailed it! It was gorgeous! Love it! Anchoring Stanford was Nicole Ouroda who came off on her layout. Not what you would typically see from Beaver fans, but some of the younger fans were cheering!
Hmmm… I personally want every team to do there best and just have OSU come out on top
But five good scores to keep them alive after three events and all they needed was five hit sets on floor and they pretty much had the Pac-10 title. Over on vault you could tell this is where judging was the loosest. UCLA had good but not spectacular vaults. Individual 9.9 scores were getting thrown out for vaults with steps.. but you know, as long as it is consistent across all schools that is all that matters. UCLA did well on vault hitting a 49.3 and a 98.3 total trailing Stanford by .325 at the half.
Rotation Five – Beavers go to vault and Stanford and UCLA both out on a bye. This is where we’ve had the most struggles. Whitney and Brooke were both coming back from minor injuries and the first four vaulters struggle with sticking their vaults.. so this was the biggest area of concern for me as a fan up in the stands… but then.. we were seeing big scores for non stuck vaults so only time would tell how our Beavers would fare on this event. Stephanie started us off.. Yurchenko ˝ laid out front – huge hop forward.. and judges were nice to us.. 9.8 for the vault. Brooke Barclay yurchenko full small hop to the side.. good for a 9.850! Wow. Great scores.. and how about Whitney coming back from her injury last week .. hop back on her yurchenko full and a 9.875!!! Great scores.. keep them coming. We’ll take them! Becky up next jumped almost hopped out of her yurchenko full for a 9.8. Next up our big guns on vault.. Jami and Mandi. Jami big hop back and a 9.85… So now here is the situation.. I’m still out there looking at the all-around scores and I see that Mandi needs a 10 to pass Janiga. A 9.975 to put her in a tie going into the last event.. So.. a run a yurchenko full and … a STICK!!!!!!!!!!! Perfect!! Are we going to see it?! It was so worthy of that 10.. but NO the judges just are not about to give that elusive 10 away!! So a 9.950 from Mandi which happens to be the top vault score thus far! Great job for Mandi and again .025 from leading the all-around with just one event to go. Great job by our Beavers though!! 49.325 vauting total which was a season high and put them at 147.275 going into their last event! What a great comeback after the troubles on beam. GO BEAVS!!!
