can't figure out the computer, so don't know if my last post worked, but here's my report of the super 6
First, during prelims, I have to say, that the only thing I feel that separated the Beavs from the finals, was their own confidence. After observing all the teams, I feel that OSU is capable of the same gymnastics as these other teams, but they didn't sale their routines. They have the skills, presentations, amplitude, explosiveness. What sets Georgia apart from the rest is their ability to sell the routine, and their confidence that they are there to win! They have no doubts. You can see it in their body language, and the judges respond. There is no doubt when they step up there that they are going to do well, and even if they fall, they still have that winning attitude.
Given that, I felt the scoring for the super 6 was ridiculous compared to thursday. They were just not taking deductions. I sat where I could see all the vault landings, bars (handstands) and beam. The georgia lady in front of me told me that the judges were harsh..I just laughed at her! She had to be joking. There were a lot of missed handstands, overarches, hops and big steps on landings, bent over bodies on vault, and still the big scores came in. I just couldn't figure it out, but maybe it's if you earned your way into super 6, everything else was ok. Utah really had nice vaults that were underscored compaired to what Georgia threw on vaults. But the gifts were everywhere. Georgia showed that they can be beat, but not in Georgia...next year should be interesting. Stanford did great, and I was cheering for them. They were steady, and really had beautiful routines.
I'll be cheering loud for Yuki tonight. I don't know what her 2nd vault will be...will be interesting to see.
Go Beavs
