Like most of you guys, I have been remiss in keeping activity going on OUR message board. I too, miss Rip-he was a most fantastic guy;and a sparkplug to put this whole thing together. Unfortunately, I never had the priviledge of meeting Rip, but I did save many of his observations in my file. May he Rest in Peace, .I know I graduated OMI before many of you were born, but I still have fond memories and hope this OMIHA continues long after I join Rip and the rest of the Corps who have served so well.
How about everyone checking in now and then, and give us a run down as to a brief past and present activity./? Shall I begin it? Lenette and I were married in Cincinnati in 1939. I started in the jewelry business with the Getz Jewelers at 6th and Vine. I enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1942 and after "boot" training, went to communication school. Went overseas in 1943 landed at Saipan, Tinian ship hit ans sunk at Okinawa;., sent on occupation duty to Japan Sept. 1945(Nagasaki) right after the bomb. Left Sasebo Novembert and returned home December 23. Discharged January 1946. Spent the nex 50 years in the jewelry business, and inbetween time, Lenette and I managed to have two children Candy-who is married and and has two girls Elizebeth 18 and Roberta 15. Mike, who just left IBM, has four chidren Jennifer,Rachel, Jonothan and Justin. . Lenette and I are retirted in Palm Springs and love the sun-we are both in our 80's and I'm still on the tennis court every other day. Semper Fi all. Bob Kane
