I was able to return to OMI today, finally.
Straight to the east ravine I went. The entire area was much hunted. Bullets and casings are a common find. The area is clean of debris though.
I discovered two pocketknife's near the creek. They came out of the ground in pieces sorry to say. A Zippo lighter was also found. It's embossed with the 5th/3rd bank logo.
After four hours of climbing up and down the ravine, I hadn't found much and decided to call it a day.
Halfway back up the ravine, I get my best reading of the day on my metal detector. The detector was giving a quarter dollar reading. No quarter, better. I unearthed an 1848 large cent. I'm pleased. Not everyday do I find a coin that old.
All in, it was a good day. Ya never know what will be found at OMI.
Also, soon I plan a return trip, not to metal detect, but to take photos of the woods. Athletic field, path to the athletic field and general present day layout of OMI.
Till then, be well...
