This day I completed an ingestigable search of OMI's western ravine, behind where the small house once stood.
Mass trash litter the woods, surely do to 1970s - 2014 high school kids. Cluttered within, are many 1940-1950 bowls, plates, bottles, etc. Most are shattered. Excavation dirt is aslo evident, surely pushed over hill when Community Center was built.
I've avoided this area thus far to it's steep incline. I now plan to canvess area thoroughly.
Today, I recovered 3 wheat cents, 30s-50s. Wheat cents are always a good way to date a site.
I didn't go away with just the cents though. I unearthed the "top" of a NRA sharpshooter merit award! Happy to have it. Obviously, one of the "Old Boys" was/is a crack shot.
As always, my quest continues. Future postings to come.
Best to all,
