My father attended OMI when he was a child. His parents sent him from Michigan to OMI (Probably to get rid of a rebellious young boy, lol) I think it was 1939-40. He was there for 3 years, if I remember correctly.
He currently lives part of the year in Florida and I tried to call him and ask him about it, but they use
a cell phone when they are there and he doesn't know how to use it very well. My mother tried to ask him about OMI and the trash pit, but he doesn't remember it. I'll try to ask him again when they get back to Michigan where he can hear on the home phone better.
I have been watching for any OMI memorabilia on the internet to give to my dad for his birthday in May, or perhaps Father's Day. Would love to share any thing you would care to share with us.
