I support the family in their decision. She is a nine year old girl named Ashley and there is no debate from either side that she has the mind of a baby (not a toddler). In order to hold her, rock her and treat her like that of her mental age they felt this would enable them the parents to do so. I feel for these parents that this has become a topic of judgement by those who will offer no more than that. Unless we are in their home offering to help in lifting, bathing, rocking, holding, dressing changing her, etc. we have no idea. How do we ask a baby's mind to handle cramps, period and breasts? I wish them all the best. I think the amazing part of this story is that the medical profession listened to the family's needs. They asked how can we help you love and care for Ashley? That part of the story blows my mind.
