My Dad was speaking to a gentleman in his area who had this type of work done. His walking was pretty good, much better than mine (I don't walk too badly, no braces or anything special). The guy took rather short steps but besides that my Dad said his walking was quite normal. He just wanted to talk to the guy to find out what he did in case it would help me. No luck there as I wouldn't get it done if you paid me. But I'm told that it works wonders for young children (I'm in my 30's). It's certainly something to look into.
