Of course. The problem comes when so many people have so many differing ideas on how to accomplish that. How far should one go to keep people safe? Does the right to privacy take precedence over the need for security? Depending on who you ask, you'll get a different answer. And that's what the Civil War is about. That difference of opinion. The problem here is that, as we've seen before in times of crisis (and in the time following), the freedoms expressed in our Constitution tend to be ignored in the push for action. We saw this during World War II, where citizens of Japanese descent were imprisoned without charge or trial. In the case of Marvel's Civil War, the question of right and wrong is purely subvjective. Is Tony Stark and his faction right for wanting a more secure, ordered America? Sure. But Captain America is also right in his concern regarding the Superhuman Registration Act's infringement on civil liberties. As far as the abuse Robbie Baldwin is undergoing, that's a regrettable display of human nature at its worst. We have a need to blame, to scapegoat. Despite that fact that it was Nitro that killed the people in Stamford, the New Warriors were the much more visible factor. The people look at them and figure, "If they hadn't tried to play hero, my children would stil be alive." Speedball, as the Warrior's apparent leader, is the only one in custody for people to vent their frustration on. -Previous Message--

I have to agree. The best part of this event is that both sides are right, and both sides are wrong.
: Marvel editorial has tried claiming that
: each
: side on CW is being written as honestly
: believing they're right and that no one is
: being portrayed as a villain but that's a
: load of crap, isn't it? The ongoing torture
: of Speedball by the alleged good guys is
: putting the lie to that
:
: Speedball is not being tortured by the 'good
: guys'. Speedball is being tortured by his
: fellow prisoners, and by some pissed off
: prison guards.
:
: If it were Stark and Pym who were directly
: involved with what is happening to
: Speedball, then I might agree with you...but
: I don't think Marvel ever promised that
: every single person on both sides within
: Civil War would be portrayed as
: noble and perfect.
