I started coughing 7 years ago last march. It has become worse, bringing up much mucus. I burp up mucus, cough up mucus, sometimes coughing so hard I throw up mucus--all which seems to come from my throat/esophagus. My lungs are clear. I have been to at least 7 doctors for this, including pulmonary specialists and allergists. My lung function tests "say" i have mild asthma, but the inhalers/medications do absolutely no good. I am at the end of my rope. Some times I cough so hard I get a headache, I have torn muscles in my rib cage area. I have been tested for allergies--negative. . . treated for acid reflux for 6 months(although I never have heartburn)--no change in the cough. I don't feel sick ever, but NOTHING curbs the cough. I am driving everyone around me crazy and the coughing wears me out. Help. Mary
